Troubleshooting and repairs.

When something isn't quite right, you need someone with the knowledge and experience to to accurately figure it out and properly correct it. I pride myself on my troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. I also prides myself on never loosing sleep over my work: when it is done, it will have been done right.

Flickering lights, sparking switches, loose receptacles, ungrounded receptacles, reversed polarity, tripping breakers, incorrectly behaving fixtures and appliances can all be symptoms of a potential hazard.

Even if you aren't experiencing these symptoms, your home’s electrical system is the one utility that can have major hazards and still seem to work just fine. Most all potential electrical hazards are a result of an unqualified person's handy work. If you suspect at all that something may not be right, please let me know.

USB Receptacle Outlet Installations.

USB Outlet Receptacle Most any existing receptacle can be replaced with a USB charging outlet. The receptacle will still function as a normal receptacle, but will also have te added function of usb charging.

Ceiling fan installations.

Ceiling Fan Existing light fixtures can be replaced with ceiling fan light fixtures. However, it is very important that this is done properly. Outlet boxes must be appropriately rated and properly installed in order to safely and securely support a ceiling fan.

Smoke Alarms.

Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out.

Carbon monoxide, or “CO,” is an odorless, colorless gas that can kill you. CO is found in fumes produced any time you burn fuel in vehicles, small engines, stoves, lanterns, grills, fireplaces, gas ranges, or furnaces. CO can build up indoors and poison people and animals who breathe it. Properly maintained CO alarms will alert you and your family to get to fresh air, should there ever be a problem.

A Combo Alarm detects both smoke and carbon monoxide.

Heat Alarms are used in areas where smoke and or CO would be problematic, such as attached garages.

Please see the Fire safety section of the Tips page for more information. I cannot stress enough the importance of properly placed and properly maintained fire & CO safety equipment. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions or concerns about your home's fire safety equipment.

  • AFCI protected branch circuits.
  • Combination AFCI protected branch circuits.

Wiring standards continue to evolve as our understanding and technology improves. Today, a new home being constructed will have most of its electrical circuits protected by Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters, or AFCIs. These circuit protectors prevent electrical arching, which is what causes most electrically stated fires.

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters, or GFCIs, greatly reduce the risk of being seriously shocked or electrocuted. Every home, regardless of age, should have GFCI protected receptacles in kitchens, baths, garages and basements.

Tamper Resistant receptacles, or TRRs, are outlet receptacles that have built in safety shutters that block foreign objects from being inserted into the receptacle. Each year, approximately 7 children a day suffer severe shock and burns when they stick items into the slots of electrical receptacles.*
Most all new construction and replacement receptacles are now required to be tamper resistant.
